Moving Away

These hints are for users who have been using a ”user@rahul.net” email address or a website URL of the form ”http://www.rahul.net/user/” and are planning to move away to some other service provider.

You can minimize service disruptions as follows.

Mail Forwarding

If you have been a paying customer for 5 years or more, simply ask us to add a mail forwarding entry pointing to your new email address.. We will add this at no charge and leave it in place for as long as you need it (or forever and a day, if we last that long). However, you won't be able to change this later (unless you pay us a $15 change fee).

Alternatively, you can ask us to add a bounce alias for your ”user@rahul.net” email address. This is available to you whether or not you been a paying customer for 5 years. This will cause mail arriving for your email address to bounce back to the sender with an error message, and the error message will mention your new email address, so the sender can then resend mail to your new email address. We will usually leave the bounce alias in place for at least one year. You won't be able to change the new email address included in the error message sent back to senders (unless you pay us a $15 change fee).

Website forwarding

If you have been a paying customer for 5 years or more, you can ask us to forward your ”http://www.rahul.net/user” website URL to your new website URL. We will enable this at no charge to you, and will leave it in place for as long as you need it. Any changes in this in the future will cost you a $15 change fee.
